Students must have completed a Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) Core Academy or a Basic Peace Officer's Academy. Additionally, students must have previous jail training officer experience. Must also be selected by a supervisor. Riverside County Sheriff training officers must have previously completed the Corrections Training Officer Course. This CTO Update has been developed to provide the current corrections training officer with a refresher course. The course will cover legal/liability issues, principles of adult learning, expectations of the CTO, remediation strategies, teaching skills update, and evaluations and documentation.
