Perishable Skills Program for Armed Correctional Deputies | 07/11/2022 - 07/13/2022
This course is designed to allow students to improve their shooting skills and practice tactical decision making, while using their primary firearm. Students will receive some lecture on force options, case law, legal and moral issues, and firearms tactics. Students will practice (live fire) tactically, using their primary firearm and using good judgment during a firearm encounter. Students will also practice decision making skills during incidents involving the use of firearms. Students will be placed in a series of scenarios. Many of the scenarios are based on real situations which have taken place with members of our department. Students will be evaluated based on their communication skills, actions, and overall ability to handle the scenarios presented to them. Students will also gain a basic understanding of the three principles (Awareness, Balance, and Control) that form the foundation for weaponless defense. Students will learn how to avoid an attack, fend off an attack, or eliminate a subject’s ability to attack.
NOTE: Please contact the course coordinator if you need to cancel a participant.
