Firearms/Tactical Rifle (AR-15/M16) EAST COUNTY TRAINING CENTER | 09/19/2023 - 09/20/2023

Must be currently employed full time by a California law enforcement agency as a sworn peace officer. Must be authorized to possess a “California Assault Rifle” and high-capacity magazines. California compliant rifles or rifles with “bullet buttons” are not allowed. Also see required equipment listed below. This course will provide students with the basic skills and knowledge necessary to safety and tactically deploy an M-16/AR-15 style patrol rifle in the field. This course will include the use of classroom instruction and practical application on the range. Topics covered: department policy and procedure, case law, force options, legal and moral options when deploying patrol rifle, ammunition and expectations, The patrol rifle use and nomenclature of weapon system, weapons breakdown/maintenance, safe handling of rifle.  Students will practice using their patrol rifle is several scenarios. Successful completion of the course satisfies the legislative mandate to possess short barrel rifle as specified in Penal Code section 33220(b) and the P.O.S.T. requirement in Regulation 1081.

• All attendees shall arrive in duty uniform
• Duty Sidearm
• Semi-Auto Patrol Rifle w/ sling
• Minimum 3 magazines for both weapons
• *100 rounds of handgun ammo
• *500 rounds rifle ammo (.223)
• Duty Sam Browne
• Ballistic Vest or Tactical Vest i.e. plate carrier
• Eye Protection
• Ear Protection
*RSD personnel will be provided ammo

• Hat with brim or bill
